Around 1999, Avex began to look for people to ParaPara in their next Video Series. First there was Richie, she had been in previous Avex videos, so she was naturally destined to be in the PPA. As for the first real "Para Para Paradise" video, ParaPara Stadium, it featured one of the other PPA's; Satoko. Satoko was later picked for the PPA. Next Maki had been in a group with Richie, so she most likely refered her to being in the PPA. Then there was Tomomi, with her stunning looks it's hard to NOT pick her! The order that the PPA were picked is unknown, but we have a general idea. The first series (Parapara Paradise) only featured 4 PPA's but they later picked 2 others to make it complete; Ryoko and Miho! They then performed in sets of 2 people, they were categorized by their height.

The sets went as following:
- Richie & Satoko
- Tomomi & Ryoko
- Maki & Miho

The PPA because HUGE in Japan! They were the biggest idols everywhere in Japan. You would see them in every magazine, and on every tv show!
